Not exactly. At Upland Consulting, our intention for our clients is twofold:
(1) Get through this (together);
(2) Prosper in the changed world afterwards.
Our priority while this lasts is to stay visible, relevant and helpful. Here in the South West, we’re a highly diverse group of mostly small SMEs. We carry a lot on our shoulders. Some of us are going to find the isolation tough, and some will find it tough to adapt to doing business under the new rules. We will all find it tough financially. We’ll need our networks, our inner circle, and our trusted advisors more than ever.
But what about on the other side? On the day when we put this behind us, the world will have, briefly, a sense of newness. Human nature won’t have changed, but we will have a fleeting chance to do things a bit differently, to re-set our course a little. Will that be in a direction that serves our true purpose, or not? That will be our choice.
Many, many things, in the business world and elsewhere, will not “snap back” to their pre-virus state. We can anticipate some of these lasting changes, and others will surprise us. Your challenge, as a business owner and leader, is to be ready to take the opportunities that always come with change, and help set the new direction.
